Hilary Smith, BA, RN has been studying Tai Chi and Qigong since 1989, and teaching since 1995. Hilary is active in the field of senior wellness, is a third degree black belt, and is certified as a fitness trainer, senior fitness trainer, and massage therapist. She has completed a certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from eCornell University.
As a teacher, Hilary is able to tailor Tai Chi instruction to the individual. She has taught Tai Chi to students who are rehabilitating from injuries, illnesses and surgery as well as using those using it as a “moving meditation” to reduce stress, and as a traditional martial arts practice. She emphasizes proper body alignment and precision in order to maximize the benefit and minimize any risk of injury. She has found that a well rounded Tai Chi practice can keep the body strong but relaxed and the mind sharp but calm.
