Coordination Pattern Training for Movement & Mind

Our neuromuscular tension, called Coordination Pattern™, controls our quality of motion (to thrust or push, to shape or hold, to swing or bounce, to hang or flow) and the way we relax and handle tension. Because these patterns are central to movement, improving the use of them also improves breathing, gait, alignment, flexibility, range of motion, and motor skills. It prepares us for all other movement and exercise training, such as Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, dance and sports. But more than that, these neuromuscular patterns ‘coordinate’ the way we move with the processes of our brain; sensating, thinking, feeling, intuition and much more.

Through this oneness of mind and motion we experience and express our selves, from something as simple as brushing our teeth to something as complex as the way we argue, create a painting, play golf, or relate to our boss and family. With these patterns our mind and motion create styles; all types of styles, learning, business, family, art, music, sports, cultural and dance. Coordination Pattern Training makes us aware of how our mind and motion integrate and how to utilize this awareness to improve our every activity. Through simple, easy exercises these neuromuscular patterns of self become a tool for an easier, healthier life.

Qigong & Tai Chi

Tai Chi, often called, “moving meditation”, is a discipline that integrates mind, body and spirit as participants practice a series of slow moving martial arts exercises, called “form”. The calming aspects of Tai Chi develop from the coordination of breath with movement and the focused concentration on slow, gentle, structured movement patterns. Students learn how to keep the muscles active but relaxed, the mind alert and calm, and the body movements slow, but well coordinated. The benefits are an overall improvement in physical, mental and emotional health.

Structural Integration (Rolf Method)

Structural Integration: The Rolf Method - a hands-on process that is designed to assist in restoring resilience and alignment to the body. Sessions build upon each other, unfolding layers of tissue as the series progresses. Structural Integration (sometimes known as Rolfing® ) is based on the work of Ida P. Rolf, PhD, a biochemist at Rockefeller University. Changes in posture and structure are achieved by manipulating the body's myofascial system (a protective layer of connective tissue that surrounds each muscle and muscle fiber to give the body its shape and support)

In a misaligned state, over time, the body will shorten and tighten to accommodate stresses, creating stiffness, pain, fatigue and lack of well being; the body's valuable resources are used inefficiently, laboring to keep a person upright in the field of gravity. A body that is integrated in gravity moves with less pain and restriction. Ordinary activities become more pleasurable, breathing is easier, good posture requires much less effort, people often appear taller and slimmer, daily function improves and increased awareness and presence in the body is experienced.
