What is Nutritional Counseling?
Nutritional counseling includes a nutritional evaluation, assessment and development of an appropriate daily eating plan that is designed around your specific needs (i.e. health concerns, disease states, weight control, allergies, religious beliefs, life-style and other factors).

Your first visit or consultation will involve a “get to know you” session that involves providing and gathering information. After that, a typical counseling session (approx. 45 minutes to 1 hour) includes development and/or modification of a nutritional plan, setting attainable goals, education for you and family members, a review of previous sessions, discussions about what might be new (i.e. medications, lab results, events), follow-ups and maintenance visits.

What is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?
A Registered Dietitian (RD) is a qualified expert who is there to advise you and help you to separate “fact from fiction.” They look at the whole picture (i.e. combination of behavioral, environmental, social and genetic factors) and come up with your plan. They can even help you interpret lab test results that may have been ordered and can coordinate your overall health and wellness plan with your family doctor or other practitioners.
