Approximately 8 years ago, a dream was planted in my heart. I am a licensed massage therapist and wanted to help my massage clients who suffered from allergies, asthma, and other breathing and skin issues that seemed to be ever increasing. I wanted something non-medical, something natural, holistic and without dreaded side effects that come with so many medications. My research led me to the Himalayan Salt Caves that have been popular in Europe for many years. At the time, salt caves were relatively unknown here in the United States. Fortunately, this wonderful health alternative has grown, and I have now been able to realize my dream. I am blessed, humbled, and beyond excited to be opening the doors to the Lehigh Valley’s first Himalayan salt room; Salt of the Earth Massage Therapy and Himalayan Salt Cave located at the Twin Ponds Integrated Health Center, Breinigsville, PA.
While salt therapy may seem new to the health scene here in America, Europeans have been enjoying the health benefits of halotherapy for centuries due to the naturally occurring salt mines located there.
WHAT IS HALO (SALT) THERAPY?
Dry salt therapy, also known as Halotherapy, is a holistic approach that mimics the microclimate of a salt cave. Dry salt air is dispersed into the air of the “cave” by a unique process generated by a halogenerator. When micro-particles of dry salt are inhaled into the respiratory system, it does its job by absorbing and removing allergens, toxins and foreign substances in your lungs and throughout your respiratory tract.
This type of treatment is a safe and effective way of using salt’s natural antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and super absorbent properties to provide relief for many conditions, such as:
Therapeutic salt sessions can also help those with:

WHAT IS A SALT SESSION LIKE?
Salt sessions are 45 minutes in length and by appointment only. You will arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled session to be greeted and fill out an intake form. You will be provided with clean socks, as no shoes are allowed inside the cave to protect the sterile environment. Once inside, you can choose to relax in a zero-gravity lounger, or lie directly upon the warm salt for added benefits. Wear clean and comfortable clothes; (the salt may leave a fine salt dust residue that can be brushed off easily.) The salt will not harm your clothing. A luxurious soft blanket and tapestries are provided for your added comfort. Our starry nighttime sky and soothing music will help you to relax and destress as you breathe in the therapeutic salty air. To ensure a comfortable and relaxing experience for all guests, please refrain from talking and no electronics are allowed inside the cave. During our special children sessions, adults and children are allowed to use indoor voices and have fun playing in the salt with provided shovels and pails!
ARE THERE OTHER SERVICES OFFERED IN THE CAVE?
Yes! Massage therapy and reflexology are available for a total body and mind wellness experience! The cave is also available for private, group, family, corporate, bridal parties, girls (and guys!) night out, couples and specialty groups upon request. We will also soon be offering yoga and other movement classes, Reiki, sound therapy, meditation, energy sessions and more in the cave! Stay tuned!
